Green is the new black

Meet Gosia Piatek, a former refugee, eco-warrior, Mother and owner of global fashion house, Kowtow.

Gosia started out in fashion, with a $5000 government ‘Work Start’ grant and turned it into a fully-fledged fashion label, whose garments are made entirely ethically and sustainably and are stocked in over 150 retailers worldwide.

Born in Poland, her family fled the country in 1985 and headed for Italy where they spent two years in a refugee camp.

On arriving in New Zealand, Gosia’s parents had just $200 and two children to feed.

But had her parents not taken the risk to leave the life that they had known, then Gosia’s story would most likely read quite differently today.

We had a marvellous evening hearing all about Gosia’s incredible story and picked her brain on what it takes to create an internationally successful sustainable and ethical business.
